Fine Food Serves Up The Answers

The face of food retailing and consumption in Australia is changing dramatically - some would say forever. Recent reports from BIS Shrapnel and The National Food Industry Council have proven just how far reaching these changes are and how they are impacting on every channel in the food industry.

For instance, the studies show how significantly the gap between in-home and out-of-home consumption is increasing. Other major changes include: increased shopping frequency; increasing demand for convenience outlets and products; declining food store retailing share; increasing foodservice share and rapidly changing consumer attitudes and needs.

"The message is clear. In the battle for ‘share of stomach' everyone involved in the food chain has to be on the lookout for products and services that will give them the competitive edge...and Fine Food is the perfect place to do just that," said Timothy Collett, Exhibition Director.

Fine Food is Australia's largest exhibition for the food and hospitality industries and will be staged at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre 24 - 27 September.

"It's an unique opportunity for people in the food industry to actually see, taste, feel and compare an array of new products or services in one location - something that obviously cannot be done over the telephone or internet, and would take weeks of personal appointments," said Mr Collett.

Over 1,000 exhibitors will showcase the latest food products, ingredients, impulse lines, technology, the hottest ideas in signage, point-of-sale and equipment filling all six halls of the Sydney Exhibition Centre. Just a short walk away in Wharf 8 is Australia's newest trade event, Wine & Spirits Australia, for those visitors also interested in alcoholic beverages.

Fine Food is supported by many of the big names of the Australian FMCG sector including: Arnotts Biscuits, Dairy Farmers, Goodman Fielder, Grinders Coffee, Heinz, KR Castlemaine, Nudie Foods, Peerless Foods, Simplot, Unilever plus many more...

Retail equipment and merchandising solutions suppliers exhibiting include 2Clix, Detpak, POSPOS, QLM Label Maker, RP Vending Systems, SSA Scanning Systems, Wanzl, Wedderburn Scales to name a few.

"Supermarket visitors should also take the time to visit the foodservice equipment section of the show. More and more supermarkets are incorporating mini businesses within their store, so it is imperative that everyone involved in the retailing of food, taps into the latest trends and developments. You simply can't afford to risk missing out on that competitive marketing edge," Mr Collett said.

Bakery equipment suppliers include Baking & Food Connections, Equipe, Euroquip, IBE, Ice Technologies, Lindsay Pie Making, MEC, MIWE, Silverwater Bakery and Starline Catering Equipment.

These will be joined by some of the finest specialist producers and manufacturers with gourmet products, organic products, spices, snacks, oils, chocolates, sauces, cheeses, meat, seafood and so much more.

Not only will the best Australia has to offer be on show, but Fine Food will also host exhibitors from 23 countries bringing the best and latest food products and ingredients from all corners of the world to tempt buyers from the retail sector and foodservice industry.

"When you come away from Fine Food you'll be armed with the knowledge and contacts to better equip you to improve your business and competitiveness in this dramatically changing market," Mr Collett concluded.
