The Australasian food and hospitality industry is gearing up for its most important tradeshow of the year when Fine Food & Hotel Australia returns to the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in September.
In 2007, for the first time, this iconic exhibition will fill all six halls of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre plus three additional halls of Wharf 8. In all, there will be over 1,000 exhibitors, including over 220 international exhibitors from 20 countries, showcasing the latest food, drink and equipment to an audience in excess of 30,000.
In recognition of the importance of the baking industry there is a special area within Fine Food & Hotel Australia called Bakery World. This show within the show will showcase the latest ingredients, equipment, finished product and events and is sure to be the centre of attention for bakers from Australia and New Zealand.
Exhibition Director, Timothy Collett says "Bakery is a special industry as it crosses over between retail, foodservice and hospitality industries and is of interest to virtually all visitors. This will be the biggest Bakery World ever with all the ingredients to satisfy the needs of anyone interested in bakeries and bakery products in one place".
Companies already booked into Bakery World include:
Apromo Trading, Bakehouse, Bakels, Bakers Maison, Baking & Food Connections, Barker Fruit Processors, Borgcraft, Bocastle Pastries & Foods, Danish Patisserie, Elitepak, Equipe, Eskimo Holdings, Euroquip, First Pack, Fruitmark, General Mills, Ice & Oven Technologies, Insect-o-matic, Ivan's Pies, Kraft Foods, Leading Edge, Lindsay Pie Making Equipment, Mrs Mac's, Oz-tank, Patties Foods, Ready-Bake, Starline Catering Equipment, Sunbeam Foods Group, Taiwan Food & Pharmacy Machinery Assoc and The Outback Pie Co.
Bakery World is also the host of two of the baking industry's highest profile competitions - one for apprentices and another for professional pie makers.
Bakeskills, the Australian baking industry national teams' competition, will be staged within Bakery World for the eleventh consecutive year. Bakeskills is a popular event where apprentice bakers and pastry cooks test their skills against peers from all around the country. Teams from VIC, SA, NSW and QLD will compete over the four days in a specially constructed bakery on the show floor enabling them to showcase their skills to the thousands of food industry visitors.
The Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition will also run in Bakery World. Now in its 18th year the official Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition has grown in stature each year and recognised as the highest profile event on the Australian bakery calendar.
The competition organisers expect over 1,500 pies from all over Australia to be tasted by a panel of 15 judges in a specially constructed competition area in Bakery World. Last year pies came from as far away as Kalgoorlie, Birdsville, King Island and many outback towns.
